The BriSCA F1 Stock Car World Championship trail took a massive step forward today as the Semi Final contenders found out just where their final piece of the jigsaw would be available.
As top World qualifier it was all down to one driver to choose his Semi Final venue, which then determines all other qualifiers places on the grid.
Current Shoot-Out Champion/Silver roof Rob Speak was the driver who had amassed the most points over the qualifying rounds and he chose the tarmac Semi Final at BIRMINGHAM in August as the place to be to book his position in this years World Final to be held at Kings Lynn.
This sent his closest rivals Matt Newson (16) and Frankie Wainman Junior (515) to Belle Vue in July, with Danny Wainman (212) on outside pole at Brum.
It is a star studded grid at Birmingham as row 2 features Tom Harris (84) and defending World Champion Craig Finnikin (55), with Mick Sworder (152) and Dan Johnson (4) on row three; Paul Hines (259) and Multi World Champion John Lund (53) share row four. Jordan Falding (36) qualifies on row 9 for his first World Semi, with the ever popular Nigel Harrhy (45) on row 11.
So off the Belle Vue on 26th July go Newson and Wainman with previous World Champions Paul Harrison (2) and Lee Fairhurst (217) on perhaps the favoured row 2 and Stuart Smith (390) and Paul Ford (388) occupying row 3
The Belle Vue Semi-Final will be a cracking race, without doubt, but the Birmingham line up appears to have all of the ingredients for a Classic on Saturday 23rd August.
