Saturday 5th September sees the 2015 Houghton JCB sponsored Junior Gold Top Championship. The 14 drivers on the grid have all had to qualify at points scoring rounds held at each track they race on. We will have a new name after this meeting as defending Champion Alaster Houghton 471 turned 16 3 weeks ago so is unable to defend his title.

The Junior Stoxkarts have come a long way in the past few years and Incarace/Spedeworth have played a big part in that by giving the Juniors track time even when in the early days there were only 3 Karts on track.

The Junior Stoxkarts are exactly the same as the senior ones and in fact several drivers share their Karts with their parents and race at the same meetings. The drivers in the Gold Top Final range from 11 to 15 years old and there are 2 girls on the grid for this year’s race.

All the Juniors have put on some great racing this season and this is the highlight of the year for them.

On the front row we have defending points champion and pre race favourite #1 Jordon Thackrs with Superstar 238 Kane Morgan outside.

Row 2 sees another Thackra, Jordons younger brother Harley 24 who will be fighting for family honours. Outside him is James Faultles 47 whose 2 brothers race in the seniors.

Row 3 sees 390 Bradley Cooper who is one of the hardest drivers to pass and outside him is the first lady on the grid 380 Ella Powell whose brother also races in the seniors.

Row 4 sees early season sensation 59 Connor Benstead and our second lady racer Megan Charlesworth.

Row 5 sees two drivers both in their first season and both from the North East. 36 Adam Wilson and 62 James Kettlewell.

Row 6 sees 304 Nathan Topliffe who again shares his kart with his Dad and with him is 451 Mathew Hutchinson who is a hire driver who has qualified using a hire kart.

Row 7 sees 257 Ben Limb who again shares a Kart with his Dad and Finn Robinson 2. Both these two are newcomers this season.

We should also mention 21 Alex Butcher who is unable to take his place on the grid due to falling off a skateboard and breaking his collar bone! And they say motor racing is dangerous...
