We are pleased to report that both Sam Cash and Katie Huckle are ok and will be back racing with us soon after the multiple crash at Hednesford on Sunday 25th March.
The meeting got off to a somewhat explosive start on lap 1 of the first race of the day with a big crash off turn 2 in the Mini Stox, which left both Sam and Katie needing medical attention.
The removal of Sam from his car was mainly precautionary and after a swift check up at hospital, Sam was back at the track before the end of the meeting, joining the MASCARS podium winners for a lap of honour.
Katie also returned to the track, some while later, with dented pride and a cracked bone in her shoulder, and a few other bruises.
Both Sam and Katie will probably be feeling a little bit worse for wear for a couple of days, but will be making a full recovery and we wish them both well.
Brandon Osbourne won the restarted Heat 1 for Mini Stox and then local star Callum Churm won heat 2 and the Final.
The American MSACARS weren’t devoid of trouble either as current Champion and MASCAR Promoter clattered the turn 1 fence following a fellow competitors’ engine blow. Steve commented ‘ it’s amazing how much quicker you go into a bend travelling through fully synthetic oil’. Steve also thanked the marshals and medical staff for their swift attention. A heat one win for Simon Johnson was followed by a heat two and Final win by Russ Best.
The INCAHOTS took to the track in great numbers for the first of three meetings for the INCAHOTS Championship kindly sponsored by RACEQUIP. Following a grid draw for race one, the remainder of the qualifying races will be started in reverse points order with the Championship race at Meeting three with the highest point scorers at the front. Returnee Matt Smith won the opening heat from an advantageous front grid start, Alan West took heat 2 and then a great win for David Swingewood in the final. Matt Smith and Gage Ford will head the points going in to round 2.
The Unlimited National Bangers were also very impressive with a 30+ grid of cars and raced superbly all day. With a World Final Wild Card up for grabs as well as the coveted Spring Classic Championship the racing was fast and furious, but no one could touch the exploits of Jason Jackson who won all three races.
