THE Bank Holiday Tour!! - Added 2/5/2012

THE Bank Holiday Tour!

Its a busy weekend on the Spedeworth & Incarace circuits with 7 meetings on over the three days, so whether you’re contact or non-contact, north, south, east or west here’s your guide to what’s on.

Let’s start in East Anglia at Foxhall Stadium on Saturday at 6.45pm, the Superstox reach round 5 of the Safari Land Rover Series. Chopper is back, Jason Cooper in his new RCE car and Chris Roots in his amazing Spedeworth Fabrications built NEC show car. Plus Steven Jackson is back at the top of the points and, never ever take an eye off Shaun Brooker. Talking of NEC cars, this is the place to see them as Ryan Eaton will be out in his new HCD as will the local Meadows brothers who are now finding their feet in their new cars. Bangers are here to kick off the Peter Brown backed East Anglian Championship, Ipswich regulars Adrian Hart, Andy Hill and Paul Felgate will be looking to open their accounts, but watch out as Steve ‘Cecil’ Anscombe is up from the south and we all know what that means! Making the trip down the A12 from Yarmouth are Barry Beevor and Brad Hudson and they are East Anglian through and through and will make a claim on this title for sure. Rookie Rods make an all too rare visit to Ipswich, it’s interesting times in the Rookie Rod class right now as most of the old guard who dominated the class have moved on, no one driver is winning everything so this means plenty of action as every driver out there knows he/she CAN win. Keep an eye on Ed Kennett though especially if it’s wet...

Birmingham Wheels gets all fast and furious at 6.00pm on Saturday as it’s round 2 of the I Factor Series, now these I factor meetings are good fun and a good evening’s entertainment! Mascar racing is always a spectacle around Birmingham and if you can imagine over 30 Stoxkarts buzzing around the raceway combined with action from the Hot Fords, Incarods, Midgets and some races for the Junior Stoxkarts. Its I-Factor or stuck in front of the TV, I know where I would rather be!

Sunday afternoon at 1.00pm and Aldershot Raceway is the place to race! Historic Stock Cars meet for the Southern Rumble sponsored by Graphics by Dave, and with no less than a staggering 41 cars booked in this is one not to miss! Names like Olding, Dodge and Coull need no introduction and this is one rough tough formula, don’t look away for a second! It’s round 3 of the Inchcape Ford Bracknell Track Championship for the Bangers and they always turn on the action at Aldershot, plus just for fun there’s an outing for the Reliant Robins too, lets see if we can match the record of every car in the race getting onto its side at some point! Junior Rods make this up to a four formula meeting, last time out Mitch Souter and Tyler Wilkin were the guys to watch, Tyler proudly racing his NEC show Saxo, and it went as well as it looked. If you have never been to Spedeworth’s newest raceway this meeting could be just the excuse you need.

Sunday evening takes us up the East Coast to Great Yarmouth at 5.30pm for the Stock Rod East Anglian Championship. On a high and fresh from his English Championship win last weekend is Dean O’Dell and he is going to be the one to watch at Caister. Out to stop him will be the likes of Carl Mann and Rusty Madden and if anyone can take the race to O’Dell it will be these two. Heritage F2 Stock Cars remind us of how it was back in the day, and Marty Page is booked in to show us how it used to be and how it should be done. Marty will be battling with Mike Walmsley and Pete Welland in their open wheel racers, and last time out at this raceway they were the formula of the night with two races going right down to the wire. This is not just for show, this is proper old Stock Car Racing. Bangers race for the Norfolk Championship, the ever present Andy Leonard along with Barry Beevor in his second meeting of the weekend will be keen to keep the title in Norfolk. Craig Boyd is booked to race and he is bound to have a say in the final outcome of this one. Street Stox, a new addition to the Yarmouth scene are back for their second outing on the coast, last time out we had 9 cars race and with more expected this week they could well provide more contact than anything else, we even had a roll over from them last time.
Next it’s Northampton at 1.00pm on Monday for a four formula line up. The youngsters in the Ministox are back for their second outing at Brafield and Jacques West will be looking to repeat his Final win here last time out. Ryan Polley is right on top of his game at present as the silver roof shows, watch him fight his way through from the very back. Fast non contact action from the Legends and so far this year is Ian Hales and Dan Holden who are proving the men to beat, but there are plenty of drivers right with them who are hungry for success. V8 Hot Stox make their first appearance of the season at Incarace and the rumble of the Rover V8 engines will make a great contrast to the scream of the Legends, Chris Bracher, Craig Smith and Darren Cottril are the boys to keep an eye on, but just watch out for a driver who has the 211 number on the roof and the name Wainman as young Phoebe makes her debut after graduating from the Ministox. Double Decker Bangers come to Brafield for the first time, seen on TV and at some of our other raceways this hilarious concept sees one car on top of the other, the whole package is nice and unstable which makes it all fun and action!

Into the Midlands on Monday afternoon with Hednesford Raceway and a 1.30pm start time and its getting close to crunch time for the National Hot Rods. With just three rounds to go it’s still all to play for all the way through the points chart. World Champion Malcolm Blackman leads the way but he has got Matt Simpson right on his back bumper and Chris Haird looking to retain his English Championship title. Further down the grid drivers are looking to stay inside that all important top 20, but it’s so close, it could be said that virtually no one is safe, and all with just three rounds left. If National Hot Rods are your thing there is simply nowhere else to be today! Lightning Rods always turn on the action at Hednesford and the field is led by Frankie Cunningham fresh from his success in the English Championship two weeks ago. Also booked to race is teenage sensation Mark Cooper Junior, he will be hungry for success after taking another win in the formula over Easter. A full field of Bangers will provide the contact side of things and to round the day off we end with the traditional Bank Holiday Monday Caravan DD, make sure you stay till the end!!

Down to the South Coast we go on Monday at 2.00pm to Eastbourne for the Big Van Bangers, always great value and entertainment around the tight Arlington Raceway it’s time for the old Transits and LDVs and bigger to go out in style after a lifetimes work! Now it gets even better.....there are 42 of them booked in with all the big Banger names expected including Charlie King and the unstoppable “Boxer” Jack as well as Brighton Bears and Surrey Street Squad in large numbers, plus a former Hot Rod World Champion no less in Shaun Proudlock who is out for some fun Van style! Rookie Rods make their second outing of the weekend, indeed some drivers are racing here after Ipswich on Saturday so well done to them and thanks for their efforts. 28 Rookie Rods are booked, which is more than enough around Arlington so where ever you look there will be racing action all around the raceway. 1300cc Stock Cars are here for round 7 of the Spedeworth Series - keep an eye on young Ryan Jordan and watch out for the East Anglian and Southern rivalry as Mark Bloss and Jason Scopes make the journey South.

So, there you have it, something for everyone at seven meetings around the UK from Spedeworth and Incarace. See you there!!
