BEATEN BY THE WEATHER! STOKE POSTPONED SUNDAY 5th March
Sunday's event at Stoke on March 5th has regrettably been postponed due to the continuous heavy rain, sleet and snow with Friday particularly damaging. Together with a BBC forecast of a day of almost continuous rain Sunday, we have decided to postpone the event.
In recent weeks, around £5000 has been invested in the track in time and relaying the track with up to 100 tonnes of fresh shale in preparation for the great season ahead however the continuous heavy rain and low temperatures means that all that work will be undone and risk damaging the track.
Following yesterdays rain, close on 12 hours, had we had a decent forecast for the two days with no rain Sunday, we could have finished preparations but i do not believe an afternoon of swamp buggy racing does anyone any favours. We have checked several forecasts and all similarly predict a very wet day with rain later today, a respite over night and rain arriving during the course of tomorrow morning and then continuous throughout the day.
We are bitterly disappointed but sometimes judgement calls are difficult, however shale and time of year is something we have to contend with and being responsible for drivers and fans. Unusually we have had to make a late call based upon original forecasts showing more promising 2 days however that has worsened in the last 12 hours.
This event will be restaged at a later date which we will announce in due course.
The event at Birmingham Wheels is very much on TONIGHT - start time 6.30pm featuring National Hot Rods, BriSCA F2's and 1600cc National Bangers.
