2018 ADVANCE ANNOUNCEMENT
Celebrate 50 Years of the Ford Escort
With the immediate commitment of the drivers that raced at Hednesford Hills Raceway on Sunday 23rd July, we are pre-announcing that in 2018 (similar July date), we will be celebrating 50 years of the FORD ESCORT with an Escort only Back to Basics meeting run on exactly the same lines at the Fiesta Frenzy meeting - 1600cc limit for Petrol cars and a 1800cc for Diesel cars.
The Fiesta Frenzy meeting was a instant success with the drivers and provided some fantastic racing for the spectators - a great time was had by all.
Whist there was a little concern about availability of cars, with 12 months warning, drivers were confident that they could obtain cars for this meeting. With it being 50 years since the first Escort rolled off the production line, we can really make something of this meeting and potentially get the involvement of Ford Motor Company themselves.
We are already aware of three drivers that already have cars for the Escort meeting and have pre-booked to race at this event.
The exact date will not be known until later in the year, but it will be around the same sort of time (June/July) and will be at Hednesford and will most definitely have Classic Hot Rods and Incarods in support, together with a Classic Car 'Show & Shine' event for the man on the street.
FIESTA FRENZY to Return!
We also agreed that the Fiesta Frenzy meeting would be repeated following such a great success, so we will be running this again, but we wanted to announce the Escort meeting in advance to give drivers plenty of notice and confirm the commitment to this meeting again. We are looking for an earlier date in the year for this event, maybe even on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, but this will be confirmed soon.
How about an all Vauxhall event?
Finally, we will be looking for an all Vauxhall Back to Basic Banger meeting in September 2018 and would like some early driver feedback on this idea, as we may consider making this an all Astra meeting - let us know what you think.
A massive ‘Thank You’ is due to everybody that took part on Sunday - success breeds success and we hope to see the same drivers next year, plus many more - we will not be turning drivers away!
