Following post race scrutineering and enquiries we are pleased to confirm that the 2017 Junior Banger World Champion is Harley McCarthy (131),
It was a hectic race which included two race stoppages, the final one being with just one lap remaining.
Having drawn pole position in the main grid draw, Harley led for a couple of laps before 294 Patrick Hughes took the lead followed closely by Joey Holmes Jnr. It was the 90 car that then led for some time before he came across some crashing cars and collected them all and an end to his title chances. The lead swapped several times in just one lap at this stage followed shortly by a red flag with one lap to go with 131 in the lead, 129 a lap down behind and then 2nd place 328 and 294.
At the re-start 328 jumped the 129 car allowing him to get closer to the 131 car which he duly spun out across the finish to take the flag ahead of 131, but 328 was docked 2 places for the jump start.
So, 131 took the win followed by 294 Patrick Hughes in 2nd and 328 Ben Nicholls 3rd. 156 Levi Oughton finished 4th across the line, but following post race scrutineering and further checks thereafter, 294 has been excluded which promotes the 156 car up to 2nd place.
This is a great result for Harley, who is still only 12 years of age and good luck to him this weekend at Kings Lynn where he will be wearing his gold roof for the first time.
We would like to thank all drivers that took part in the event and thank them and their families for their support.
