Congratulations to the three new World Masters Champions following a superb days racing at Northampton International Raceway.
The Rebel Racers Masters was totally unpredictable with most of the favoured drivers falling by the wayside early on with ex National Hot Rod star Steve Thompson (385) taking full advantage to romp home ahead of Mark Wareham (601)in 2nd and new World Wide Rebellion Champion James Joyce (156 in third.
The F2 Masters saw a first major title for Michael Green (115) who finished ahead of Richard Bowyer (761) in 2nd following a difficult qualification and Chevy Mills (538) in third.
The F1's were the stars of the show for most of the day and the Masters didn’t disappoint. Without a yellow flag most people would have picked white top sensation Shaun Blakemore (221), but blue graded qualifier Ivan Pritchard (434) predicted the race to be his following a consolation qualifying win.
So what of the red and star graded drivers - well they spent most of the day trading blows between each other and provided some top class racing, but this did allow the front runners to get away.
The early pace saw Blakemore pull away and with Pritchard second it looked very much like that predictable win, until Mike James came to a halt on the home straight around halfway. This was just what the doctor ordered for Ivan Pritchard and he gained the lead with a handful of laps to go from Blakemore who held on for a superb 2nd place ahead of the hard charging Paul Hines(259).
So well done to all three new Champions for all at Incarace.
