In line with the celebratory year of 50 years of the National Championship at Hednesford Hills Raceway in 2013, Paul Gerrard recently laid down a challenge with long time Veteran ‘Organiser’ Ken Gibbs to get 50 Veterans on the grid for next year’s Veteran Meeting in June.
The interest that this has created for the 15th staging of this event is just incredible and it seems that 50 cars will be achieved, which is superb!
It has however created a little bit of a problem, which we need to address now in that the one main spirit of the meeting is in danger of being broken and in doing so will probably destroy the Veterans meeting completely for the future, which of course, no one wants to do.
The main idea of the Veterans formula on that day is to allow real, shall we say ‘Old Timers’, back on track for a once a year bash around the famous Hednesford bowl. Recently, the current rule of being out of racing for three years has been broken, which we need to address, but we now consider that there should also be a minimum age of driver.
The driver eligibility rules will now be as follows:
All drivers must complete an official 2013 Veterans entry form
Open to drivers that raced prior to 1995
Drivers must be a minimum age of 40.
Drivers cannot have actively raced within the last 3 years
Any driver that does not conform to the above, can if they wish, apply to race
stating why they consider they should be eligible, and all applications will be considered on their individual merits.
Cars must be constructed to the current National Banger rules, except that the engine size can be up to 4200cc and no smaller than 2000cc. All drivers will be issued with a free Incarace Day Licence and will have two free entry tickets.
At the end of Racing there will be a ‘get together’ in the bar, where food will be supplied and special presentations will be made.
We all hope to make this a really special day, so if anyone has any queries please contact us via our Birmingham Office on 0121-357 7328 or via the Incarace web site at info@incarace.co.uk
