Sunday 17th March – Hednesford Hills Raceway
FINAL RESULT
Following an investigation into an incident between 33 Peter Amas and 48 Daniel Hughes in the final laps of the final, Peter has been docked 2 places from his win. It was considered that Peter squeezed Daniel unnecessarily when he knew he was being challenged around the outside.
The investigation also revealed an indiscretion from Daniel who has also been docked 2 places for contact after the chequered flag, which demotes his final placing down to 4th.
Martin Heath therefore becomes the first Final winner of 2013 and Tim Hudson (64) is promoted to 2nd place. The Mylaps result has been amended accordingly.
The trophies will be presented at the Northampton meeting this coming weekend.
SCRUTINEETING
There seemed to be a rather fractious atmosphere in the pits at Hednesford surrounding pre-race scrutineering.
Drivers should be reminded that the Technical Scrutineers are there to check where possible that your race car conforms to the current Inex technical rules and any further items covered by the ‘local’ UK Oval Legends supplementary rules.
If your car does not meeting requirements in terms of a safety issue, then you simply will not be allowed to race until the fault is rectified. If you car fails for any other reason at pre-race scrutineering, but in the opinion of the scrutineer does not give an advantage, then you will probably be allowed to race with a warning and a note in your log book for the problem to be fixed for the following meeting. Any other instances of your car not conforming, will require you to fix the problem before racing on that day – if you are unable to do that at the track, then you will not be allowed to race.
In all cases, you need to treat the Officials with respect and that also goes for any member of your team – remember, you are responsible for their actions, so if they ‘kick off’, it will be you the driver that will suffer the conaquences.
As with Stewards, Scrutineers have a thankless task and there is an easy route to confrontation, but as indicated above, they are there to do a job and their word counts – please do your best by arriving to race with a legal car so that your race day at least starts off well!
