Round 3 of the Banger World Series takes place at Northampton on Sunday 28th April, and after the fantastic first two rounds this one is certainly much awaited!!
We can confirm that our BWS stars are now joined in the series by 190 Steve 'Pikey' Bailey who will take part in the remaining 6 rounds, which is sure to add to the spice as some help arrives for 239 Steve 'Nemesis' Carter who has arguably been the star of the first two rounds battling largely on his own! Some would argue Nemesis hasn’t needed any help so far!
Steve Bailey will be on hand for the pre-meeting free personalised photo signing session at Northampton too, alongside his BWS colleagues with 67 Rickie Beasley, 221 Justin ‘Motormouth’ Riley, 247 Lee ‘Bro’ Clarke, 262 Rob ‘Roona’ Bugler and 331 Jason ‘Boxer Jack’ Jackson – photo signing will be in the marquee just inside the main turnstile from 11.50am to 12.35pm so get there early! We have had a few enquiries from people as to how they can get the ‘full set’ of signed photos for all the BWS drivers – the only way is to follow the series around and collect them – each of the BWS drivers will be on duty for signing at at least two of the rounds!
It has to be said though that it's certainly not just our 14 BWS drivers who have done the entertaining at the opening 2 rounds - the National Banger drivers as a whole have come together to produce some great racing and wrecking, and fantastic entertainment for the bumper crowds the BWS has been attracting, so our thanks go out to everyone for engaging in what the series is all about!
So who is going to join 382 Jack Foster Jnr (Wimbledon) and 264 Mark Welland (Aldershot) to take their place in the World Final to get the Wild Card place at this round, along with a great world final standard point job from our kind signwriting sponsor for this round, Sam Cole?
Our 'side show' for this round is something we've not tried before - a Banger Caravan Ramp Rollover Competition! We have no idea how it's going to pan out, it could be great, it could be good, but it will certainly be messy!!
We do have an opportunity for a sponsor for The Showdown – the race after the Wild Card where it’s first to do 10 laps or last car running, winner takes all, where turning round on the bends is permitted – 542 Craig Oliver took the win at Aldershot and the £300 purse which went with it!
Enquiries on sponsorship should be directed to Mark Butler on 01252 322920 – get your name associated with the BWS!
BWS merchandise will be on sale at Northampton as well from the track shop on the day, anything not in stock can be ordered – remember the proceeds from sales of the BWS merchandise go direct to the drivers involved!
With close on 50 Unlimited National Bangers booked with 10 days to go before the meeting it's looking like being another great day's entertainment. With BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, Lightning Rods and Rebels adding to the racing on the day it's one not to miss - Sunday 28th April, first race 1.30pm!
