Competitors that need to use the top pit entrance at Birmingham Wheels due to the height of their transporters need to note!
The road leading up to the Venetia Road entrance into the pits is closed at the moment due to a bridge being removed...
So if you normally turn left at the Big Johns island into Garrison Lane, then you won’t be able to travel far enough to access the Venetia Road entrance.
There are diversion signs in place but these will be useless on Saturday as they take you close to the Birmingham City Football Ground and there is a match on in the afternoon.
The easier plan is to get to the top of Garrison Lane in an anticlockwise direction from the Motorway.....
From the 7 lane wide A38(M) Aston Expressway take the normal route, left off the island.
Go straight ahead at the traffic lights (Fletchers Autostore)
Turn left at the 1st Island (A47) ont Nechells Parkway and travel into Saltley Road and then right at the island into Saltley Viaduct and then into High Street.
Turn right at the island into Adderley Road (B4145) and then left at the traffic lights into Ash Road which is still the B4145; this then becomes Bordesley Green Road.
Turn right at the main set of lights into Bordesley Green (B4128) and then the road splits – keep right into Garrison Lane.
You are now travelling along Garrison Lane in the opposite direction from normal – the Venetia Road entrance will be on your right.
That may all sound complicated, but it is the simplest way.
