THIS WEEKEND’S BriSCA double header at Birmingham Wheels and Hednesford Hills Raceway has attracted a massive entry across all formulas and this could be the best weekend of Stock Car action seen at Incarace for a long time.
The BriSCA F1s have booked fields of 40 and 35 cars for the two meetings – the former should be a cracker as Birmingham is well known as the best tarmac track for F1 action in the UK, while a large field for Sunday should silence a few critics who claim that F1s are not suited to Hednesford’s layout! Those booked in for both meetings include World Champion 1 Lee Fairhurst, 2011 gold top 2 Paul Harrison, category legend 515 Junior Wainman, National Points Champion 84 Tom Harris, a clutch of Autograss graduates on their track debuts and former F2 World Champion 532 Daz Kitson – not forgetting a certain 318 Rob Speak, out at Hednesford in an F1 for the first time since his World Championship win back in 2001. This could be the ultimate tarmac F1 weekender of 2012!
The F2s meanwhile are out in enormous numbers, with no fewer than 72 cars set to pack out the pits at Birmingham and 58 ready for Hednesford. This is a truly magnificent effort by F2 stars from all over the country, with World Champion 1 Micky Brennan heading the entry along with 886 Chris Bradbury, 921 Jack Aldridge, new Scottish sensation 3 Liam Rennie, and a whole galaxy of other star names on what will be a really special weekend. Barry Goldin (on a switch back from shale) was also due to race at Birmingham, but it is understood that there is a fight against time to get his tarmac car ready and ultimately he may only be able to make Hednesford
The National Ministox meanwhile have 32 cars for each meeting, new Midland Champion 55 Courtney Finnikin heading the entry but after a bad night at Northampton last week 1 Frankie Wainman will be out for revenge. The Roper brothers, 323 Harry Peall and any of the ever increasing field of lady racers – headed by Finnikin and 180 Courtney Witts – will start as favourites.
If that’s not epic enough, a grid of over 20 Bangers will serve up some crash action on Sunday at Hednesford too! 290 Ryan Davies will go for yet more race wins – will anyone be able to stop him?
This is set to be one of the biggest weekends of the year at Incarace so far – where will our pit parkers put all the cars? Don’t miss either of these great meetings!
