Following the race meeting at Hednesford last Sunday, the phone lines has been working overtime and social media networks have certainly seen an increase in traffic!
The power of the Internet is alarming and we strive for it to help our sport in every conceivable way, but it can quickly work in reverse and cause irrepairable damage overnight.
The incidents at Hednesford on Sunday have been well publicised, particularly on Facebook, but a number of people are overstepping the mark with their comments – it's getting too personal and doing the sport no good whatsoever!
Drivers and associated people should be well aware that licences can be suspended in that you are basically ‘bringing the sport into disrepute’ and comments on Facebook is a good example of this – so don’t get caught – leave your comments to yourself, unless they are positive.
The incidents on Sunday have been investigated and dealt with and we must now move on and move on in a positive way.
Classic Hot Rods isn’t about to implode because of a couple of incidents at the weekend and Incarace will make sure that this doesn’t happen. All formulas go through difficult times and have blips in their progress and with the effort and commitment that has gone into the formula over the last two years, no one is about to give it all up.
On Tuesday of next week, there is a meeting at Spedeworth HQ to discuss the 2014 Construction Rules for Classic Hot Rods. Deane Wood has hand-picked seven drivers to be part of those discussions with representatives across both driver grades and driver budget availability. If you have any items that you wish to raise at this meeting, then please e-mail your thoughts to info@spedworth.co.uk.
Finally, following the banging and fireworks that went off in the Classics on Sunday, we have decided that it would be a good idea for you all to be part of our Firework Spectacular at Hednesford on Sunday 3rd November. We need a full grid of cars for this one AND we expect without exception all drivers to leave the fireworks this time to the pyrotechnic experts.
