Spedeworth / Incarace would like to remind all National Banger drivers that the 2014 National Banger Rules come into effective from Saturday 1st March 2014.
This therefore means that the Micro Madness meeting at Birmingham Wheels Raceway on Saturday 1st March will be run under these rules so we would ask that all drivers please ensure their cars comply with the 2014 rules.
Please check that your car complies with the changes from 2013 which include:-
Front bumper – cars with no front cross member may now use a Ford Galaxy people carrier front bumper or similar, or link the chassis members with a chain.
Front bonnet bolts may now go through either the slam panel, inner wings or chassis.
Roof plates can now be used regardless of whether the car originally had a sunroof, but the plate must not extend back beyond the roll cage or beyond the roof edges, max 3mm thick.
Foot plates can now extend up the transmission tunnel to the same height as the door sill but may not be fixed to it in any way. They can also extend up the bulkhead to within 8” of the top.
One way valves must be fitted to the fuel tank breather pipe.
Fuel tanks must be steel.
L-shaped water tanks may extend towards the turret on one side of the engine only and must not extend beyond the front of the engine. Only rectangular or L-shaped tanks are permitted.
Electric water pumps are now permitted.
Fabricated drive shafts are not permitted, prop shafts can be modified using only car/commercial parts only.
Engine cradles must not be attached to water tank.
Cam guards to be maximum 6mm thick, and can only be used where the engine has a cam belt/chain.
Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres are banned, and any other tyre can be banned on 1 months notice.
Minimum tyre profile is 55.
Only one spring permitted per corner.
Diffs are free on unlimiteds.
Tubular steel exhaust manifolds are not allowed on FWD cars, and only on RWD where they were fitted as standard to the engine being used.
Where seat belts are attached to the roll cage, the cage must have at least two bolts securing it to the roof and floor on both sides of the car.
