Following the ORCi meeting earlier this week, the ORCi promoters have agreed to further review the new tyre rules in National Bangers.
To clarify, the new rule states that tyres must be minimum profile of 55. There was also an existing rule stating that a maximum tyre size of 195 for 2 litre Bangers which all promotions confirm is currently being enforced.
All promoters have been asked to encourage further feedback from drivers in the next month, during which the rules should be enforced as written for 2014.
We would appreciate some input from drivers on one idea we at Spedeworth / Incarace have come up with:
We think a rule might work which allows 50 profile and above, but limits the price of the tyres. This would be governed by establishing say 3 or 4 named major tyre suppliers’ websites where prices are quoted – to enable a tyre to be used that tyre must be available on one of more of the websites at the date of the meeting for say a maximum of £50 including VAT. This can easily be checked by scrutineers at race meetings where necessary, and will still enable good tyres to be used but for budget racers to still have a chance of being competitive.
Any drivers who would like to make any representations please contact us on 01252 322920, by email to info@spedeworth.co.uk or by contacting either Nico or Deane Wood direct.
Please note for avoidance of doubt that the existing rule (max 195 size and minimum 55 profile) applies at Birmingham Wheels this Saturday and should do at all ORC meetings until further notice.
