BriSCA F2 Stock Car World Champion 783 James Rygor is set to appear at Birmingham Wheels Raceway this Saturday night as part of a very busy Incarace weekend.
James, who secured the gold roof in a frantic finish to last year’s World Final at Taunton, will make his first trip to the Midlands of 2014 to show off the gold, with fellow World winner 968 Micky Brennan and previous 2014 Final winners 59 Lee Dimmick and 115 Mike Green also among a fine 40-plus entry of F2s.
The National Bangers are also out in good numbers with a wild card place on the 2 Litre World Final grid up for grabs. 382 Jack Foster Jnr has won everything at Birmingham so far this year but he has already qualified – will he go wrecking instead? Look out also for some visitors in the shape of the Gladiators and Stinkbridge teams to spice up the crash action.
Lightning Rods provide the non-contact action with 87 Frankie Cunningham and 45 Craig Boyd the big names to watch, but look out also for 79 Simon Barry and 80 Andy Minshull, these former big hitters of the formula making their first appearance in a couple of years. Racing kicks off at 6.30pm – don’t miss it.
On Sunday another two World Champions will be in attendance at Pr1mo Northampton in the shape of 376 Steven Jackson and 31 Jonathan Pooley. Jacko secured the biggest prize in Superstox last year and leads the Spedeworth-based formula on one of its rare but well anticipated visits to Incarace to contest the Midland Championship. Look out also for former National Hot Rod man 482 Jason Cooper and ex-BriSCA F1 man and Northampton specialist 151 Nick Smith among a large grid of these hard-hitting stock cars.
Pooley meanwhile has put together a mightily impressive run of victories in Grand Prix Midgets over the last few years including a string of World titles, and he leads the Midgets as they contest the June Cochrane Cup. It will be a family affair as his brother 32 Daniel and their dad 33 Gordon also compete, while 76 Allen Herbert will make a comeback for the first time in a couple of seasons and former Hot Rod star 3 Leon Smith makes his Midget debut.
The UK Oval Track Legends enjoyed a fabulous season opener at Birmingham with no fewer than ten drivers making their debut in the formula plus a couple of welcome returnees and grids are set to swell again for their second round of the year, while the V8 Hot Stox were out in good numbers last week at Birmingham where 64 Simon Sykes won the Final and white top 112 Jamie Marson was in great form which he will aim to repeat at Northampton – this meeting kicks off at 1.30pm.
