Northampton 15/7 - Added 15/7/12

Hello and greetings from a sunny Northampton International Raceway where there is blue sky and a gentle breeze today in stark contrast to the weather yesterday. The rain did not detract from an awesome night's racing and more of the same is expected today!

The first order of business today will be the random draw for the BriSCA F2 European Championship grid. The full grid will be posted here as soon as it is concluded - where will your favourite start their challenge for the red and yellow chequered roof?

With BriSCA F1s, BriSCA F2s and Rebels on the bill; another fantastic day's racing is ahead of us. Racing starts at midday so, if you're local, why not come and join us for the biggest day of short oval motorsport at one of the UK's premier venues.

BriSCA F2 Stock Cars

European Championship
7 Gordon Moodie, 921 Jack Aldridge, 59 Lee Dimmick, NI925, 218, 700, 100, 647, 676, 606.

Despite clipping a stranded car as the race came under caution and an engine that was on three cylinders for the last few laps; it was 7 Gordon Moodie who added to his championship collection with victory in the 2012 European Championship.

Heat One
7 Gordon Moodie, 409, 788, 100, 935, 154, 560, 286, NI312, 768.

Gordon Moodie maintains his excellent form with a comprehensive victory in the first heat of the day. The race highlight was a spectacular rollover for 59 Dimmick on the home straight in a clash with 854 Dawson.

Heat Two
115 Michael Green, 921, 783, 222, 186, 606, 53, 183, 647, 470.

A very fast race saw 115 Green take a comprehensive victory. Green had his work cut out to initially catch 761 Bowyer before both gave chase to king time leader 222 Mills. Once ahead, only a mechanical failure would have stopped Green from taking victory.

Heat Three
886 Chris Bradbury, H124, 324, 732, H3, 254, 676, 780, 604, 448.

Chris Bradbury takes another win at one of the tracks where he has been one of a group of drivers who have dominated at the Brafield venue in recent times.

Consolation
854 Robbie Dawson, 761, 700, 768, NI312, NI998, 817, 618, 522, NI929.

Robbie Dawson gets some reward for the long trip from the North of Scotland as he takes the consolation. It looked like it would 218 Speak or 968 Brennan who would take the win but a clash between the two ended ,the chances of the two former world champions. NI998 Fegan was docked 4 places for jumping the start.

Internations Final for the Bev Greenhalf Trophy
761 Richard Bowyer, 100 George MacMillan Jnr, 115 Michael Green, 788, 817, 618, 154, 186, H124, 886.

Richard Bowyer takes his second feature final in fine style with a comfortable win. Many people's favourite for victory, Gordon Moodie, saw his challenge end early following a clash with 324 Thackra. Bowyer drove away from the rest after taking the lead and was not to be denied!

Grand National
115 Michael Green, 218, 886, 100, NI312, 676, 186, 780, 581, 449.

Michael Green takes another win to round off the final race of the day.

Rebel Racers

European Championship
41 Ali Topley, 81 Lyndon Rushby, 656 Adam Joyce, 385, 269, 25, 601, 9, 33, 8.

In a race that featured numerous cars spinning out of contention, it was Ali Topley who kept his head to take the title with a very comfortable margin over those behind him. A well earned first major win for the driver of the 41 car.

Heat One
81 Lyndon Rushby, 656, 72, 41, 5, 269, 156, 25, 9, 385.

Lyndon Rushby makes up for his disappointment in the European race with victory in heat one.

Heat Two
41 Ali Topley, 818, 18, 72, 156, 269, 78, 656, 25, 1.

The newly crowned European Champion continues what he himself described as a fairytale as 41 Topley takes another victory with a win in the second heat of the day.

Internations Final for the Bev Greenhalf Trophy
156 James Joyce, 25 Anthony Masters, 5 Stuart MacKinnon, 470, 72, 41, 352, 8, 23, 33.

In a hectic race, it was James Joyce who took advantage as others fell by the wayside to take the win in today's feature final.

BriSCA F1 Stock Cars

European Championship
84 Tom Harris, 4 Dan Johnson, 55 Craig Finnikin, 515, 417, 172, 12, 150 191, 422.

In a fast and furious race it was Tom Harris who finally broke his championship duck in style. The race was brought under caution several times in the early stages with 417 Mike James retaining the lead for a long time before 4 Johnson arrived on the scene with 84 Harris in tow. Harris got past Johnson to take and retain the lead.

A protest was lodged by Johnson who appealed a two place docking that would have demoted him from second to fourth. The appeal was upheld and Johnson has been given second place with 55 Finnikin third.

Heat One
259 Paul Hines, 191, 484, 434, 55, 411, 422, 412, 417, 45.

The race saw a huge clash between 4 Johnson and 515 Wainman - both drivers failed to finish so may potentially meet again in the consolation if both cars can be repaired. 259 Paul Hines takes a fine first win in his new self-built machine.

Heat Two
229 Derek Brown, 195, 84, H247, 212, 22, 16, 321, 2, 172.

Derek Brown takes his second win of the weekend as 195 Whitwell and 84 Harris can't get on terms with the white top driver.

Consolation
37 Chris Cowley, 161, H36, 515, 464, 462, H195, 246, H365, 532.

With 4 Johnson failing to make the grid and 150 Sworder also being towed off prior to the start; it was blue top 37 Chris Cowley who took the spoils in the consolation event. The result was earned the hard way after hasty repairs to the car following a big impact earlier in the day that left the 37 car hanging on the fence at turns 1 & 2.

Internations Final for the Bev Greenhalf Trophy
259 Paul Hines, 321 Ed Neachell, 515 Frankie Wainman, 84, 212, 16, 484, 195, 434, H365.

A fast and furious race with numerous big hits and personal battles saw 321 Neachell settle into a fairly comfortable lead following the early lap sort out! 84 & 515 were cutting their way through the order until 515 ended 84's chances with a big hit. 259 Hines eventually overhauled Neachell to take an excellent heat & final double.

Grand National
150 Mick Sworder, 84, 484, 16, 22, 321, 259, 191, 417, 45.

Following their clash in the final, it was 84 Harris who had the last word when he put an end to 515 Wainman's chances of a win in the final F1 race of the weekend with a big hit going into turn one. It was outgoing European Champion 150 Sworder who took an excellent win to conclude the F1 Stock Car action of the weekend in fine style with some power sliding and donuts to celebrate the win!

We would like to thank you all for joining us for our updates. We would also like to thank all of the drivers, teams and fans for their understanding in the face of some difficult conditions and wish everyone a safe trip home
