FORDS Charity Bike Race
Following one installation lap it was Mikey Godfrey in the neon pink outfit who took the win in the one lap race for the FORDS charity from a fluorescent green adorned Jason Kew. Both drivers looked "interesting" in their outfits but have done a great job raising money for a very worthwhile cause. Check out either driver's Facebook pages for more information on how to donate.
Well done to Jason & Mikey for their enthusiasm and also Garry Staines for organising the event.
Classic Hot Rods (Stars of the Past).
8 Chris Kew, 20, 57, 153, 16, 351, 24, 88, 445.
A frenetic start to the day from the old guard saw Deane Wood get involved in the early stages with 306 Polley. Some great action saw the drivers rolling back the years with battles all over the track. Mike Chapman in the 924 car came to a spectacular halt on the back straight after a clash with Wood in the 144 machine - the 924 car certainly looked very second hand afterwards! The race then restarted and saw Kew in the 8 car maintain a decent lead before the race was halted just before its full distance following a clash between Winstone and Weaver saw 210 stranded on turn 1. George Polley's challenge came to an end with a small fire under the bonnet and Barry Lee brought his steed home in 6th. Great entertainment from the old boys to get racing underway!
Bill Morris Memorial Trophy
161 Daniel Holden, 8, 6, 20, 57, 30, 153, 37, 445, 144.
Daniel Holden takes a well earned win and takes home the Bill Morris Memorial Trophy for twelve months following a race that was punctuated by another fire for 306 Polley and a big smash for the 31 Avenger of Stephen Gooding.
Bill Morris Revenge Race
20 Dave Fry, 57, 6, 8, 30, 37, 445, 88, 244, 153.
In an excellent last race for the classics, it is the 20 car of Dave Fry that takes the win after a great battle with Wright in the borrowed 57 car.
Legends
National Championship
161 Daniel Holden, 48 Dan Hughes, 12 Stephen Treherne, 156, 11, 242, 52, 60, 32, 495.
The National Championship for the Legends saw an excellent battle for the lead on a wet track between 48 Hughes and 161 Holden which Holden eventually won. Once in the lead the 161 car increased the gap on those behind to take a comfortable win. 48 held on for second with Treherne coming home in third in the 12 car.
Grand National
12 Stephen Treherne, 64, 48, 161, 156, 272, 151, 33, 60, 84.
Stephen Treherne takes victory in the final race of the weekend for the Legends.
Lightning Rods
National Championship
355 Mick Walker, 87 Frankie Cunningham, 937 Ben McKee, 926, 947, 924, 240, 368, 781, 974.
The race was brought to a quick halt when 87 Cunningham was spun out and a gaggle of cars also went in. 22, 314, 526, 730 and 923 failed to restart. The second attempt at starting was quickly aborted as the 78 car didn't get moving on the back straight. The third time was a charm as the race got underway and 355 Walker streaked away into a lead that he was not to relinquish as he won by over 5 seconds in an impressive display.
Grand National
947 Gordon McKee, 22, 923, 730, 781, 240, 974, 355, 51, 526.
Templepatrick's Gordon McKee rounds off the Lightning Rod racing for the weekend with a victory to hopefully make the journey home a little more enjoyable.
Stock Rods
National Championship
447 Stuart Smyth, 57 Raymond Harper, 8 John O'Donovan, 755, 658, 876, 3, 394, 172, 151.
Stuart Smyth continued his great year with victory in the Stock Rod National Championship. An incident packed race saw several cars looking battered and bruised but 447 stayed calm throughout the chaos to take the win.
Grand National
95 Adam Daniels, 47, 658, 110, 136, 879, 3, 364, 447, 257.
Adam Daniels takes the win in the final Stock Rod race of the weekend.
National Hot Rods
National Championship
Following the 5 installation laps, the race has now been declared a wet race and the drivers now have ten minutes to adjust their cars before we get the race underway.
9 Glenn Bell, 174 Jason Kew, 209 Kym Weaver, H66, 271, 162, 444, 41, 963, 115.
In a race run on an initially wet surface, it was 940 Woolsey who made all if the running for over 2/3 of the distance before a left front puncture saw his race end in the turn 4 fence. The World Champion 9 Glenn Bell inherited a lead he was not to relinquish. 174 Jason Kew was pleased with his second place as was Kym Weaver in third. Woolsey passed 83 cars in a dominant display until fate intervened. Congratulations to all drivers who put on an excellent display in difficult conditions.
Grand National
115 Chris Haird, H66, 39, 95, 217, 996, 74, 41, 963, 629.
To paraphrase Chris Haird before the race, he stated that he was "not very good" in the wet. Well, he disproved his own theory in style to take the final victory of the weekend.
Thanks to all drivers, teams and fans who made this National Weekend a special event. We wish you all a safe trip home
