Saturday 22nd March 2025 marks the historic re-opening of Mildenhall Stadium, after the West Row venue was devastated by a fire in the summer of 2024. The event features a three-figure entry of drivers across the Unlimited National Bangers, 1300cc Stock Cars and UK Barn Finds Historic Stock Cars; a true night of thrill-packed action!
Managing Director Deane Wood looks forward to the roar of motorsport returning to the stadium: “we know how much people love Mildenhall Stadium, I’ve got such a soft spot for it myself, it’s an iconic track in the oval motorsport ranks. Drivers and race fans travel from not just from across the country but from Mainland Europe to compete and spectate here.”
Work started to bring the much-loved venue back to life as soon as possible, with plenty of hours over the winter leading up to Saturday’s Grand Re-Opening which is expected to bring race fans in their thousands to witness the event. Since the fire, which took place on Tuesday 30th July last year, the barn has been rebuilt, as well as a brand new steel-plated fence installed around the edge of the circuit. Alongside the other improvements at the venue in recent years, such as LED floodlighting, nowhere shows Spedeworth/Incarace Motorsports’ commitment to oval motorsport other than Mildenhall.
“I just love this sport, and I’m not one to mess around: so getting the venue reopen as soon as possible was a must. We’ve actually still got plans to improve things further as the weather improves and we have more time, but for now it’s all about Saturday night’s racing.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has worked to make Saturday happen, and hope to see faces new and old at the venue as the season progresses.”
Such a huge entry of cars has seen the start time being moved forward to 4pm, with well over 150 cars set to pack out the pits.
“Seeing so many drivers entered is quite special - we’re sure they’ll put a good show on for everyone, although I’m not sure the new fence will be in a pristine condition after such an event! All of those drivers battling it out in such a confined space on the shale is like nothing else.”
Mildenhall Stadium reopens for oval motorsport on Saturday 22nd March, now starting at 4pm.
