In their final appearance of 2011 13 V8 Stock Cars arrived at Plough Lane to compete for their British Championship. 348 Dave Williamson unfortunately had to withdraw from the Championship grid as a fuel leak put paid to his aspirations. With the drivers lined up in points order; the commentator uttered most famous words in motorsport "start your engines" as the big V8s thundered into life with the noise reverberating around the Plough Lane venue. 98 Peter Scott took advantage of his pole position start to pull away as several cars behind him tangled with each other in an effort to break away. It was Dave Miles Jnr 123 who eventually broke free from the other competitors to give chase to the 98 car which wasaround 6-8 car lengths ahead. This gap remained fairly consistent as the laps wound down despite the best efforts of the 123 driver to reduce the gap in the hope of making contact with the 98 car in the final laps. With the 98 and 123 cars crossing the line in first and second it was 31 Robert Harris (winner of two races last time out at Wimbledon) who came home third to claim the final place on the podium.

The V8 Stock Cars always look and sound awesome and certainly put on a good show last night - we look forward to welcoming them on to Spedeworth circuits in 2012 and events such as last night's British Championship can only bode well for the future of the formula. Well done to all drivers and teams involved.
