Bangers are designed to be cheaper and simpler to prepare than their National Banger cousins, but the drivers will tell you they are no less fun to race and provide the same amount of jaw-dropping action!
The formula is designed to tempt you, the spectator, off the terrace and onto the track - and comes in 1600cc Banger and Back to Basic Banger form. All-action events featuring the formula can be seen throughout the year: from our famous Caravan Destruction Derby to crazy Figure of 8 racing, the Bangers are always incredible to watch!
Back to Basic Bangers have rocketed in popularity over the past few years, with drivers enjoying the deliberately simple build rules and fun spirit - and plenty of skidding, slipping and sliding on the way!
Equally entertaining and interesting is the type of car that is used in this formula, where MOT failures considered useless are resurrected and brought back into service to provide incredible action for race fans at our tracks throughout the year.
1600cc Bangers are also a great stepping-stone from the terraces to behind the wheel. All manor of smashing and bashing means the class are popular throughout the country, especially at the Gold Rush rounds in the lead up to the World Final.
Our 'Cash or Card' events are also set to shake up proceedings in the 1600cc Banger formula.
So, why not give it a go?! Build rules can be found in the Drivers section of the website.
The biggest race of the year for the 1600cc Bangers is the World Championship which is held at Foxhall Heath Stadium, Ipswich in November. Details of the Qualifying procedure can be found below...
