Round 4 of the Banger World Series is almost with us, this Saturday seeing the Birmingham Wheels round of the series with 65 Unlimited National Bangers on the booking list at present as well as 19 Classic Hot Rods and 19 Reliant Robins.

The pre-meeting free photo signing takes place as usual with those on duty for this round being 67 Rickie Beasley, 180 Mark 'Sparky' Foster, 190 Steve 'Pikey' Bailey, 221 Justin 'Motor Mouth' Riley, 382 'Chubby' Jack Foster Jnr and 421 'Nutty Nige' Riley. Bring the kids for free signed and personalised photos from 4.50pm behind race control!

Steve Bailey will arrive at Birmingham as the newly crowned 2 Litre World Champion following his win at Hednesford Hills Raceway last Sunday, that title race saw some friction between Steve and Boxer Jack so it will be interesting to see if this carries on at Birmingham. Whether it does or not, there is plenty of spice guaranteed with the names on the booking list so it promises to be another top night of action.

With the large numbers booked in, the current plan is to run an extra heat for the National Bangers, with the format being 2 x half car heats, an all-in heat, then the Wild Card Final and Showdown. The winners of all three heats will draw for their positions at the front or back of the grid in the Wild Card race.

As at each round, the Wild Card winner not only gets his place on the World Final grid at Ipswich in October, but also wins a world final spec signwriting job courtesy this time of Dom Davies Signs, so we thank Dom for his kind sponsorship!

Most people know the Showdown rules now, but to confirm it's the first to complete 10 laps or the last car running, with turning round permitted on the bends only, and £200 to the winner!

The Grand Parade for all National Bangers is at 6.15 with the first race at 6.30pm, and with the National Bangers due on first so we ask all drivers to be there in plenty of time to be scrutineered and ready for the parade at 6.15 please!
