Tim Day Memorial
Northampton International Raceway
Sunday 13th November 2011 – 1pm start
We are pleased to announce that Northampton will host the Tim Day Memorial in honour of 310 Tim Day who sadly passed away earlier this year. The date of 13th November has been chosen as that was Tim's birthday.
The meeting will be for Unlimited National Bangers (racing for the Tim Day Memorial Trophy) and under 2 Litre National Bangers (no Mondeos / Cougars), along with a Spedeworth stock car support formula to be announced in due course. The format of the racing will be decided nearer the time when we have a better idea of numbers.
As well as remembering the life of Tim Day, the meeting will be raising money for charities chosen by Tim’s other half Gemma, being Mount Vernon Hospital, Willen Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
In order to ensure that a good sum is made for charity on the day, there will be various donations to be made throughout the meeting as follows:
- Each driver will pay a £10 race fee on the gate – 100% of this will go to the charities.
- Temporary drivers (day licences) will pay the £10 entry fee and an additional £10 for their day licence. Incarace have agreed that 100% of this will also go to the charities.
- The Motley Krew team are donating a 1600cc manual Bluebird for the under 2 Litre class to be the top prize in a raffle. Further details will be released on this shortly so people can start to buy tickets, and hopefully the car will be on display at some race meetings from around mid-May where tickets will be available. The intention is that raffle tickets will be £5 each – the Bluebird will be sign-written in Tim’s colours and racing under his 310 number (with some space allocated for the winner’s choice of additional wording), and will be built by Lee Bradbury & Ginge free of charge (big thanks to them for volunteering and sourcing the car) – so people know it will be built properly! The raffle is being arranged by Gemma, and as I say, details will be released as soon as possible. The winner will not be obliged to race the car themselves, but can donate it to any willing party! It will be ‘arrive and drive’ with the winner only needing to turn up – they don’t get to keep car or kit after the meeting! There will be additional prizes to be donated by various parties, again to be announced in due course when the raffle is launched. If anyone wants to donate prizes please let us know!
- There will be bucket collections on the day at the track to which we hope everyone will donate what they are able.
- As well as the day licence fees, Incarace will make a sizeable donation to be announced on the day.
- There will be no prize money paid out to drivers on the day – the normal prize fund will also go straight to the charities from Incarace.
- It is also intended that some special souvenir Tim Day hoodies will be produced which will be made available for sale in due course – again details to follow.
The bar at Northampton will remain open for as long as possible after the meeting!
Drivers can book in as soon as they like for this meeting – please do so either by calling the Spedeworth / Incarace office on 01252 322920, by email to bookin@incarace.co.uk or to admin@spedeworth.net, or by PM to Nico on Ovalchat! Offers of additional raffle prizes can also be made to these contact details or direct to Gemma or Dave Thomas.
Drivers are asked to please book in for the meeting so we can best ascertain from the numbers how the meeting will be run on the day.
We trust that everyone will get behind this idea and make it a day to remember, a fitting tribute to Tim Day, and to raise as much loot for the charities as possible!
