Northampton International Shaleway is the UK’s longest serving short oval with over 50 years of history behind it, and all the greats of the sport’s history have seen action here at one of the spiritual homes of British oval racing.
Located in the Northamptonshire countryside near the village of Brafield-on-the-Green, the stadium's 396 metre shale oval creates an all-action arena for breathtaking Stock Car and Banger action.
The venue - recently seen on BBC One's Top Gear - hosts events throughout the year. With a wide variety of oval motorsport descending on the Northamptonshire venue, events which provide entertainment for the whole family.
2024 sees the long-standing venue host the BriSCA F1 Stock Car European Championship Weekend, one of the biggest Stock Car races of the year, with thousands of race fans expected to witness two days of fast and furious racing on June 8th - 9th.
You will find all the facilities to make your day complete including for 2024 a brand new seated grandstand, a licensed bar, freshly-cooked food, track shop, ample free parking and great views of the entire circuit.
Northampton International Shaleway - affectionately known as Brafield - is located off the A428 between the villages of Brafield-on-the-Green and Horton, and is easily accessed from junction 15 of the M1. The raceway offers excellent viewing and catering facilities and other trade stands are available.
Whether it’s a Saturday night, Sunday afternoon or Bank Holiday, there is always first class action guaranteed at this venue.
Tickets for our events can be purchased in advance for a discounted price via this website or at the turnstiles on the day of the event using either cash or card methods of payment. Gates open around two hours before start time.

What time do gates open?
Stadium gates open at least 3 hours before start time for competitors and and 2 hours before start time for spectators. At some special events this may vary, check the individual event pages when available.
Can I take my own chairs in?
Yes, the venue has plenty of grass banking to watch from - plus new for 2024 is a seated grandstand located on the back straight and is charged at £4.00 per seat offering superb views of the racing action.
Can I take my own food and drink in?
Yes. The venue also has it's own bar/catering outlets.
What time does it start and finish?
The advertised time is the first race. We can't give an exact finish time, but events last around 3 hours on average depending on track clearance.
Can I go in the pits?
Yes. The pits are open to all but children must be accompanied at all times.
