We have been informed of the sad passing of Denys Jones on 6th February. Denys was better known to many as ‘Man On The Terrace’, under which guise he wrote about stock car racing in various publications from 1960 until the late 1990s, including our own Wheelspin magazine.
He loved his racing, particularly the Superstox, and last attended a meeting at his local Wimbledon Stadium on 1st January.
The funeral will take place on Thursday 24 February at 11.30am at St Barnabas Church, Southfields. There will be a private committal at Lambeth Crematorium afterwards.
His son Chris told us that unfortunately by that time his sight was very poor and he found the racing very hard to follow, although he enjoyed being there and chatting to a number of people he had known.
All at Spedeworth would like to extend our sincere condolences to Chris Jones and all Denys’ other friends and family.
