A monsoon greeted drivers and spectators alike as they arrived at Wimbledon Stadium for the Winternationals event on New Years Day. The Lightning Rods did not feature any visiting drivers but full credit must be given to all of the Lightning Rod drivers who put on a great days racing in horrible weather.
Two reverse grid heats would determine the grid for the meeting final and these were won by 445 Craig Boyd and 416 Diggy Smith.
With a third place in the first heat and victory in the second race, it was 416 Diggy Smith who took full advantage of his pole position start to dive into a lead that he would not relinquish. Following the early lap sort out, it was Diggy's son 616 Billy Smith who broke free to run in second but, unfortunately for Billy, he fell foul of the Steward's eagle eye and was docked two places in the final result. This elevated Heat One winner 445 Craig Boyd to second and 2011 Polleysport Series Winner 633 Robert Gamble to third.
