We have received the following report from the Hot Rod tour of South Africa!
Saturday started with the introductions of the two teams, tension was high as no one knew what to expect.
Heat 1 race A & B was 4 UK and 4 SA cars on the track. With hard racing the spares flew from all the rubbing and bumping, which had the spectators on their feet during the race. Unfortunately for SA the UK took heat 1 with 120 points and SA with only 109. Owner Deane Wood and promotor Ismael Peck at this point called the guys and told them to play nicely!
Heat 2 was just as exciting but SA came back with a bang and took it with 145 points, UK laging behind on 106 points, with SA team member Frans Joubert car #103 was head to head at the end with UK team member Dick Hillard car #31 as they both tried to pass eachother, but went together over the winning line, with the crowd going wild!
Onto the Final, and the tension level was even higher as all the 16 cars were together on the track. With 20 competive rounds there was hard racing from both sides, not one of them backed down and after great racing and good team work the SA took the finals with 83 points to the UK's 61, SA winning the night overall with a total points of 337 with the UK falling short on this occasion with 287.
