Trackstar have asked us to publish the following press release regarding cancellation of their meeting at Kings Lynn on Sunday:

"With the Met Office now issuing a full scale weather warning for King’s Lynn over the weekend and following discussions this morning with senior Met Office forecasters, Trackstar have reluctantly decided to postpone the 2012 Unlimited Banger Icebreaker which will now be restaged on Saturday 11 February (1pm).

The Met Office forecasters are currently predicting up to 10cm of snow on Saturday night which will then be followed by sleet and rain. These are the worst possible conditions for shale racing and although we can do things with the track following heavy rain etc, this predicted weather combination will leave the circuit completely un-raceable and we feel it is unfair to driver and fans to try and press ahead and run such a prestigious event in these conditions.

King’s Lynn is widely regarded in both Speedway and Stock Car / Banger circles as having the best prepared shale strip anywhere. The track is currently in fantastic condition and once this weekend’s weather has passed be in top condition for next Saturdays restaging.

Knowing how the forecasters have got things wrong in the past and how they love to change their mind, ideally we would have liked to have waited until late Saturday before making this decision but given the travelling distances that many fans and drivers undertake to race at this meeting together with the need to cancel hotels etc and with the Met forecasters telling us that they are 90% confident of the forecast they have issued, we have decided to make an early decision to minimise disruption to supporters and drivers. (Hopefully we will not be left kicking ourselves when the forecasters decide to change their mind on the forecast they are 90% confident on!!)

Fans who have already booked advance tickets will automatically have these transferred to the restaged meeting. Should anyone wish to cancel their advance ticket and receive a full refund, this is available by speaking to Graham on 01553 771111.

We hope to get a list of teams who will be racing in the restaged Icebreaker as soon as possible. The good news for fans hoping to do a weekend of racing next weekend is that Kings Lynn and Northampton are only 75 miles apart so a fantastic weekend of racing is on the cards over the 11 / 12 Feb!"
