Here’s the weekend guide from Europe’s leading Oval Racing Promoters, Spedeworth Motorsports.
The rain has gone away, the dog has won Britain’s Got Talent, PLUS petrol and diesel prices are on the slide! Life can get back to normal, its time to go racing.....

Saturday 19th May with the usual 6.45 start time sees a great line up at Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich, there’s 6 aside Banger Team racing as the Banger guys race for the John Earrey Memorial Trophies, that night of the year when we all remember “The Voice of Foxhall” one of, if not THE commentating great on the ovals. Legends race for their British Championship, for many Ian Hales is the man to beat, but local drivers John Towshend, Stefan Lloyd and Phil Moore will be determined to see the trophy remain in East Anglia. The Legends are an awesome spectacle around the wide open Foxhall Raceway and the Championship race alone will be one to watch. The real tension in the pits (and probably on track) will be from the National Hot Rods as they reach round 15 of the 2012 World Final qualifiers. Only 20 English drivers will make it onto the grid in just seven weeks time and a look at the points chart tells you that it’s still all to play for. The top of the chart with Simpson, Haird, Blackman and Murray has just a handful of points separating them, and it’s getting tougher every meeting as they are determined to stay at the top. National Hot Rods are a non contact class but when the pressure is on like it is right now mishaps do happen as pictured and those drivers are desperate for points a race from this premier class is always something special to watch. National Hot Rods is formula that has it all, new faces, old hands, friends......and bitter rivals. If you are not a Foxhall regular this one is going to be well worth the journey.

Aldershot on Sunday (20th May) at 1pm sees the continuation of three of the season long championships plus Junior Banger action as well. Stock Rods race in a round of the Polleysport/Yokohama Tyres series, 24 are booked in including Speedway star Ed Kennet who has made the step up from the Rookie Rods where he was very impressive. Former World Champion Andy Sturt and current gold roof holder Stuart Smyth both need points in this series and Smyth is fresh from his win in the East Anglian Championship at Yarmouth 2 weeks ago. Recently-crowned English Champion Dean O’Dell will also be in action. The Inchcape Ford of Bracknell Banger Track Championship Series goes from strength to strength and the action will come thick and fast once these guys get on track. Don’t look away for a second when the Juniors get on track either, the youngsters in the smaller-engine Bangers are fearless as they try to emulate the adults and when it comes to the Junior Rods keep an eye on young Mitchell Souter, he raced last weekend up at Great Yarmouth at the very first meeting for the Junior Rods on the East Coast, he took a heat win and still managed to get the car onto two wheels in the final, these cars look great and remember these are the stars of the future.

Up on the East Coast at Great Yarmouth with a 5.30 start time a good line up of 1300 Stock Cars will see the Radcliffe boys battle it out with Jason Scopes, Lee Pearce and others around this small but fast raceway. Lightning Rods are here to see the East Anglian Championship title decided and they are something to see at Yarmouth. Robert Gamble is on a high right now after his win in the 2.0 Stock Cars East Anglian Championship just last week at the same track so he could be one to watch on Sunday as he attempts to make it a championship-winning double. Ben Kerry is racing and is always great to watch and he will be enjoying his on-track rivalry with Wayne Farrer and Ben Murray. Bangers Race in round three of the Yarmouth Track Championship and there’s a lot of local pride at stake as Yarmouth sees a very local racing line up. Barry Beevor is the ever present Yarmouth star and he loves to race something a little different. The hard charging Andy Leonard is booked to race and crash, keep an eye on him. If the weather looks good why not make a day of it on the East Coast and take in the racing in the evening?
