BWS Update - New Recruit!

Added 17/4/13

Round 3 of the Banger World Series takes place at Northampton on Sunday 28th April, and after the fantastic first two rounds this one is certainly much awaited!!

We can confirm that our BWS stars are now joined in the series by 190 Steve 'Pikey' Bailey who will take part in the remaining 6 rounds, which is sure to add to the spice as some help arrives for 239 Steve 'Nemesis' Carter who has arguably been the star of the first two rounds battling largely on his own! Some would argue Nemesis hasn’t needed any help so far!

Steve Bailey will be on hand for the pre-meeting free personalised photo signing session at Northampton too, alongside his BWS colleagues with 67 Rickie Beasley, 221 Justin ‘Motormouth’ Riley, 247 Lee ‘Bro’ Clarke, 262 Rob ‘Roona’ Bugler and 331 Jason ‘Boxer Jack’ Jackson – photo signing will be in the marquee just inside the main turnstile from 11.50am to 12.35pm so get there early! We have had a few enquiries from people as to how they can get the ‘full set’ of signed photos for all the BWS drivers – the only way is to follow the series around and collect them – each of the BWS drivers will be on duty for signing at at least two of the rounds!

It has to be said though that it's certainly not just our 14 BWS drivers who have done the entertaining at the opening 2 rounds - the National Banger drivers as a whole have come together to produce some great racing and wrecking, and fantastic entertainment for the bumper crowds the BWS has been attracting, so our thanks go out to everyone for engaging in what the series is all about!

So who is going to join 382 Jack Foster Jnr (Wimbledon) and 264 Mark Welland (Aldershot) to take their place in the World Final to get the Wild Card place at this round, along with a great world final standard point job from our kind signwriting sponsor for this round, Sam Cole?

Our 'side show' for this round is something we've not tried before - a Banger Caravan Ramp Rollover Competition! We have no idea how it's going to pan out, it could be great, it could be good, but it will certainly be messy!!

We do have an opportunity for a sponsor for The Showdown – the race after the Wild Card where it’s first to do 10 laps or last car running, winner takes all, where turning round on the bends is permitted – 542 Craig Oliver took the win at Aldershot and the £300 purse which went with it!
Enquiries on sponsorship should be directed to Mark Butler on 01252 322920 – get your name associated with the BWS!
BWS merchandise will be on sale at Northampton as well from the track shop on the day, anything not in stock can be ordered – remember the proceeds from sales of the BWS merchandise go direct to the drivers involved!

With close on 50 Unlimited National Bangers booked with 10 days to go before the meeting it's looking like being another great day's entertainment. With BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, Lightning Rods and Rebels adding to the racing on the day it's one not to miss - Sunday 28th April, first race 1.30pm!

BWS Round 2 Update - Crash Happy!

Added 9/4/13

Round 2 of the Banger World Series took place at Aldershot Raceway on Sunday 7th April, and if you weren't there then we sympathise with you!

A superb field of 80 cars assembled in the pits and a cracking afternoon of great racing, great crashing and a great atmosphere was the result!

The pre-meeting free photo signing session went down well again - on signing duties were 239 Steve 'Nemesis' Carter, 252 Steve 'Boogie' Bugler, 260 Keith 'Keefy' Reynolds, 360 Jack 'Jackstar' Reynolds and 542 Craig Oliver - thanks to Boogie and Craig for stepping in at short notice after other drivers were delayed coming back from the World Cup meeting in Scotland the night before!

Spedeworth National Banger star 264 Mark Welland took the biggest prize of the day by winning the Wild Card straight into the World Final at Ipswich in October, and with it a top sign writing job from Samways Signs who kindly sponsored that race! Mark has yet to win the World title and few would want to deny him that opportunity to try again.

Gladiator and BWS star Craig Oliver then won the Showdown and the £300 purse which went with it - thanks to S J Automobile Services for their generous sponsorship of that race!

The whole day was superb with the drivers in the other formulas (2.0 Stock Cars, V8 Stock Cars & Ninja Karts) all playing their part but the National Bangers stole the show with a fantastic display of racing and wrecking all day!! The huge crowd played their part in creating a great atmosphere and even the sun came out to play.

The Bears v DWO Challenge provided a break in proceedings as they had a tug of war on the infield in micro Bangers which also saw 190 Steve 'Pikey' Bailey and 341 Andrew 'Jonesy' Jones making their first appearance for a while as they warm up for their comeback from bans at the end of the month, DWO taking the win helped a bit by the Bears' Nutty Nige deciding to stick it in reverse instead of forward gear to spice things up - the 6 drivers then all had a DD to finish the cars off!!

The BWS moves on to Pr1mo Northampton on Sunday 28th April for Round 3, don't miss it!!!

Thanks to Damian Savage of for the photos.

BWS Off To A Flyer!

Added 20/3/13

Those who were at Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday (17th March) were treated to an outstanding display of full contact National Banger racing as our drivers really put on a show in the opening round of the all new Banger World Series!

The pre-meeting photo signing marquee proved very popular with the kids (and plenty of adults too!) but the quality of the racing and wrecking on the night meant that every spectator had good reason to leave the stadium thoroughly entertained!

Congratulations to National Banger star 382 'Chubby' Jack Foster Jnr who won the Wild Card race which earns him his place in the 2013 National Banger World Final at Foxhall Stadium, as well as a quality sign writing job courtesy of our sponsor for the night, S J Signs. Other wins on the night went to Chubby again, Lee 'Bro' Clarke and Rickie Beasley.

Our thanks go to all of the drivers and their teams who all played their part in making it a fantastic night to remember!

Don't forget if you liked what you saw at Wimbledon, or if you made the mistake of giving it a miss, the next round is at Aldershot Raceway on Sunday 7th April, 1pm start!

Thanks to Chris Berry for the photos!

Banger World Series Almost Upon Us!

Added 12/2/12

The Banger World Series gets underway on Sunday 17th March at Wimbledon Stadium, where the Spedeworth Banger World Series drivers will be joined by many other stars of the sport to contest the first wild card grid place available for the National Banger World Final at Foxhall Stadium, Ipswich, on 12th October!

We have excellent support from the 2.0 Hot Rods and the 2.0 Stock Cars on the night, and some of our World Series drivers will be on hand before each round to sign personalised photos for kids, and for any 'big kids' who might want one too! There will also be a grand parade for the best cars! On duty at Wimbledon to sign photos before the meeting will be 239 Steve 'Nemesis' Carter, 252 Steve 'Boogie' Bugler, 331 Jason 'Boxer Jack' Jackson, 360 Jack 'Jackstar' Reynolds, 421 'Nutty Nige' Riley and 521 'Ace Ash' Riley. The signing session will be from 4pm to 4.45pm in a gazebo near the turnstiles so get there early to take advantage of this great opportunity! Graphics by Dave will also have t-shirts of your favourite drivers and teams on sale at the gazebo with proceeds from the sales of these going straight to the drivers themselves.

Make sure you visit our Banger World Series driver profiles by clicking the relevant driver's link on the right of this page. On the night listen out on the Grand Parade for the signature tunes of each of the World Series drivers too!

So who is going to grab that first valuable position on the grid by winning the Final on 17th March? With 331 Jason 'Boxer Jack' Jackson already in as defending champion he will have the chance to try and affect who is successful on the night without worrying about his own places. The Brighton Bears make their first ever Wimbledon appearance as a team (Justin Riley and Ash Riley have never raced there at all before) to be welcomed by the likes of Boxer Jack, Steve 'Nemesis' Carter and the Cream Team who will be looking to spoil their picnic!

The Cream Team will also have the Gladiators to contend with, while the likes of Boxer Jack and Nemesis will need to keep an eye out for the Reynolds father and son pair of Keefy and Jackstar as well as the Bugler brothers Roona and Boogie and another old sparring partner in Lee 'Bro' Clarke. There's a strong contingent of Spedeworth drivers such as Mark Welland, Rickie Beasley and Luke Dawson plus plenty of representation from East Anglia as well with the likes of 'Chubby' Jack Foster Jnr, Ben Smith, Carl 'Gouldy' Gould, Billy Cunningham, Steven Collings and newly Spedeworth registered drivers like Kyle 'Little Chief' Overy and Shayn Winsor all looking to get some points on the board, or, even better, that Wild Card place and a spot on the grid in the bag early in the season!

This meeting is also the first chance for the Spedeworth registered National Banger drivers to get some serious points on the board towards qualification for the World Final - and don't forget 'The Showdown' - once the Wild Card place is done and dusted The Showdown follows - a 10 lap race with the first to cross the line OR the last car running taking the cash, with turning round allowed within a designated area on the bends (outside-in only) in The Showdown at every round of the World Series, and all meeting at the Wimbledon and Yarmouth rounds!! Everything points towards a cracking start to the World Series, don't miss it!!!

Will anyone win the superb Showdown Trophy (pictured) by bagging both the Wild Card Final and The Showdown or will the trophy head back to Spedeworth House unclaimed, at least until the next round at Aldershot on 7th April?!

And there's even more on offer! The winner of the Wild Card place at this round gets a World Final spec signwriting job free of charge from the excellent SJ Signs - thanks to Simon Jones for agreeing to do this, we should have a prize from a top signwriter on offer at each of the 8 rounds of the World Series!

Find out for yourself how it all goes on 17th March, admission at the turnstile on the night - £15 for Adults, £11 for Seniors, £6 for Children (age 5 to 14), under 5s are free. Family ticket is £40 which gets in 2 adults and 3 children!

Coming very soon we will have Banger World Series merchandise, from t-shirts of your favourite driver or team to mugs and lunch boxes! If what you want is not there we can probably get it made for you!
