Congratulations to Spedeworth Superstox star 376 Steven 'Jacko' Jackson who won the British Championship at Wimbledon Stadium last night ahead of a strong competitive field.
The grid draw saw the former British and current World Champion 177 Stuart Gilchrist draw pole position alongside another highly fancied driver in 69 Shaun Brooker, with Jacko and 482 Jason Cooper with work to do alongside each other back on row 10.
Gilchrist twice got away but twice was pegged back due to race stoppages, one of which resulted in a puncture for defending champion 161 Billy Smith who received outside assistance and unfortunately had to be excluded.
On the 3rd off former World Champion 151 Nick Smith took the lead and looked like he was away, but had to retire. Jackson and Cooper soon stormed through to the front as Shaun Brooker accounted for Gilchrist which effectively ended both of their challenges.
Jackson was away and his only immediate danger appeared to be when he was going to lap Gilchrist who had battled his way back to 6th, Jackson was held up for Cooper to close in, but not enough to change the result and Jackson came home for the win after an excellent drive ahead of Jason Cooper, 454 David Pike and 515 Jordan Aylward.
Full Result:
1st - 376 Steven Jackson, 2nd 482 Jason Cooper, 3rd 454 David Pike, 4th 515 Jordan Aylward, 5th 718 Michael Mallett, 6th 177 Stuart Gilchrist, 7th 95 John Saunders, 8th 246 Derek Russell, 9th 483 Sarah Cooper, 10th 242 Sam Stacey, 11th 657 Tony Lattka, NOF.
