We have been having an increasing number of issues with National Banger scrutineering, particularly in the Unlimited class. We are also concerned that the cars are getting too strong and we need to put a stop to this.
We will shortly be issuing a list of the main problems which our scrutineers are finding, and what is acceptable in terms of the rules, in an attempt to significantly reduce the numbers of cars having to be scrutineered more than once.
In the meantime, we want to make all drivers aware that we are now lifting a selected number of cars prior to National Banger meetings, and after them, and anybody caught with illegal iron work will be issued with bans.
Would drivers please note this extract from the National Banger rules for 2013:
"Cars that fail post or pre-race scrutineering, found to be armoured or strengthened, including engine or gearbox suspension mounts that are over the top will receive an immediate 12 month ORCi ban. This includes distributor and cam belt guards."
