We have recently had an increasing number of Banger drivers being disqualified for having too much tread on their tyres.
Just to remind people, only conventional road tyres with a MAXIMUM TREAD DEPTH OF 6MM may be used, and they must read less than 60 on a durometer at any time.
The following tyres are NOT permitted:
Toyo, racing tyres, Mud & Snow tyres, Alpines, nobbly or any competition tyre, Town & Country, 7.3 Avon Turbo Speeds, Yokohama, Colway competition tyres, Tread cut tyres, tyres with markings erased and National Banger remould tyres.
Decisions on any other tyre is at the scrutineer's discretion - the rule is there to try and keep the formula cheap and to allow drivers to be as competitive as possible regardless of budget.
