It was the culmination of the Peter Brown Ipswich Championship Banger Series at Foxhall Stadium on Saturday night, also doubling up as the Fireball / Darran Jones Benefit meeting, and it was a night for the southern visitors as they went home with both titles.
The Ipswich Banger Championship Grand Final was first up, the drivers starting on the grid in points order as accumulated through the season, with 558 Rob Haines on pole alongside World Champion 309 Michael Lane, and he took advantage of the place by taking the win and cementing his position at the top of the tree! 426 Mark Pope passed 309 for 2nd with Laney having to settle for 3rd in the race, another local boy in 151 Jamie Hadley in 4th. Haines won the series overall ahead of Laney and 282 Steen Rozier.
The Fireball race later on the schedule provided some good entertainment and it was another southern driver in 106 Darren Terry who took the spoils in this one ahead of Haines and Laney!
Well done to everyone for raising plenty of money for Darran Jones on the night, and a big thank you as always to Peter Brown for his continued support of our racing at Foxhall and Yarmouth!
Thanks to Chris Berry for the photos.
