Sunday 31st January saw a superb National Unlimited BWS Round 1 kick off the 2016 campaign with a fantastic nights racing in front of a capacity crowd at London, Wimbledon Stadium.
A relative 'who's who' in the Unlimited National Banger World arrived to do battle in cars ranging from a Rolls Royce to a London Taxi and most inbetween!
Commencing the night saw Shane Davies and current World Champion Jack Overy at the Drivers signing joined by 1975/76 World Champion Chris Medler who had flown in from Norway for the event, plus 1986 World Champion Sean Gallagher from the infamous Warriors Team and 1987 World Champion Roger Wilkinson, still very much a familiar face around the Raceways. These three legends also competed again current stars, Mark Cooper Jnr, Joey Reynolds and Sam Beasley in the time trials throughout the evening won by Mark Cooper from Sean Gallagher.
The evenings heats went to, #160 Shayne Winsor, #28 Fred James, #197 Joe Bowers, whilst #103 Jack Deacon took the Consolation.
The Wildcard Final went the way of #89 Joe Barrett with no other finishers and the £500 Showdown race, co - sponsored by 3rd generation Race Fan, Daniel Adams saw a win for #197 Joe Bowers.
All in all it was a fantastic nights racing and we would like to especially thank all the Drivers, Race Teams, Stars of the Past and our Race Fans for making it the great atmospheric spectacle that it was.
BWS Round 2 is at Foxhall Stadium, Ipswich on Saturday 5th March at 6:45 pm - put it in your Diary now, another one not to miss!
