Spedeworth / Incarace and indeed the Motorsport world in general are very saddened to hear the news of the passing of 320 Dave Pierce early this morning.
It is very difficult to put into words the contribution he made to Oval Motorsport and Superstox Racing in general. Indeed he was a legend and carried respect from his fellow Drivers and Race Fans the world over.
The pinnacle of Dave’s racing career came with the 1968 and 1980 World Titles, but there were many more occasions when he could have become World Champion, including some years prior and after those historic years.
Many titles were won during a wonderful racing career that entertained thousands of Race Fans in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Mainland Europe and South Africa.
We are so proud that in recent years, Dave was able to return to Spedeworth events as our guest of honour and was introduced to a replica of his famous BP/Custom Car Magazine Car, built by Stu Blyth and Dean Cox.
Typical of the man, he had the time for a chat with everyone in the Stadium at those meetings and signed scores of Autographs, even for the Cancer Charity Poster campaign at the final Wimbledon meeting to which Dave sadly couldn’t attend due to failing health.
Further details of tributes and Funeral details will be announced once we have them but for now we ask you to remember and reflect on a good man and gentleman driver who will be missed by so many.
It is a cliché that is often over used, but the world indeed is poorer with the loss of Dave Pierce.
Our sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to Elaine, Claire, Martin and all the Family, and many, many friends and fans at this very sad time.
