The weekend starts at Foxhall at 6.45 on Saturday (26th May) with a cracking line up of no less than 34 Historic Stock Cars at time of writing - this could be just like the old days!! There’s bound to be fireworks here as the “the boys from down south” travel up the A12 to take on the local lads in East Anglia, and they don’t like anyone stealing their thunder. Names like Madgwick, Dellar and Taylor defending the home honour from names like Olding, Coull and Dodge. Lightning Rods, fresh from the East Anglian Championship at Yarmouth last weekend provide some racing action with newly crowned EA Champ Ben Murray booked in, his first title and surely not his last. Adam Eyles tried to take it off him right on the line, he is coming to Foxhall to try and make it stick this time! “Micro Madness” Bangers complete the line up this time, choosing the right car is what it’s all about here, some of those little cars can go round Foxhall like a Hot Rod. The local faithful are already booked, Kelvin Banthorp, Ben Warner, Darren “Chunk” Yates and the ever present Andy Hill, plus of course the one and only Sean Parratt, and you can always count on him for a crash and he always comes out with a smile whatever happens! There’s also a chained pairs race planned which promises to be entertaining as these boys haven’t had a lot of opportunity to practice!!
The Spedeworth Tour Bus now heads south to Aldershot on Sunday (27th May), arriving at 1pm for the one not to miss. Unlimited National Bangers are back in town and all the big names are booked, Charlie King, Boxer Jack, Mark Welland, it’s going to be good. But don’t go anywhere between Banger races as there are 28 2 Litre Stock Cars booked for another round of the Wealden Series PLUS there is bonus prize money too from SMG Driving Services. Extra prize money always means extra action with these boys, plus by my reckoning George Morphey owes Billy Wood a fencing from Yarmouth last time out, Aldershot on Sunday could be where that account gets settled........for now. Ninja Karts race with over 20 booked in and don’t think these are just kids out to play, take a look on Spedeworth TV and see how hard these youngsters can race, at their ages those wins mean so much. A look down the booking list already shows some familiar names, stars of the future indeed. Rookie Rods make this a four formula meeting as they reach round 4 of their DB Mechanical Services Series, Dan Harris leads and he is second in the National points but is ‘absent’ from the tracks for a month, which gives the opportunity for Lee Evans a chance to close in, Becca Dance flying the flag for the girls as she sits in joint third spot in the series with Stuart Hillyer. Aldershot 1pm on Sunday, have fun!
Back into East Anglia on Sunday (27th May) afternoon to the top of the A12 as Yarmouth is now racing weekly through the summer, remember it’s a 5.30 start time and if you only get to one meeting on the East Coast this year, make it this one, its the 2.0 Hot Rod National Championship and Yarmouth Stadium is proud to welcome the best drivers from England and Northern Ireland for this prestigious night out. The East Anglian trio of Gary Goodswen, Danny Fiske and World Champion Will Reed take on the Crane Brothers, Paul Wright and Mark Willis. Tommy Miller will be out to prove a point just a stone’s throw from his home. Now add in to the mix the top boys who are coming over from Northern Ireland, Shane Murray, Adam Best and Derek Martin. This is Great Yarmouth’s big race of 2012. Superstox always put on a great show at the Caister venue, Steven Jackson is so at home here as is Liam Lambert and Shaun Brooker and the wins could well come from these three on the night. No James Meadows this time as he is grounded due to his exams, (unfortunately, sometimes we just have to be sensible!!) but brother Alex will be flying the Meadows flag as he is really finding his feet in his new NEC HCD machine. Superstar Ryan Eaton always makes the long journey to Yarmouth and goes well here too, could he steal the locals’ glory? Bangers too, making this a four formula meeting and one to be at. It’s not just Monaco that’s racing by the water this weekend - moor the yacht at Yarmouth Quay and enjoy one of the year’s highlights on the East Coast!!
