Congratulations from all at Spedeworth Motorsports to the new National Hot Rod World Champion, Portadown's 9 Glenn Bell, who won the title at a very rainy Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich on Sunday.
Glenn battled his way through from grid 14 to take the win after defending champion 911 Malcolm Blackman had initially looked like he was not going to be caught.
The C P Dynes National Hot Rod World Championship saw 4 different leaders throughout the race, 115 Chris Haird had won pole position by virtue of his fastest lap time on Saturday morning and he set the early pace before fellow pole-sitter 962 John Christie took over. Blackman was soon up with Christie though and he took over and started to build up a big lead.
Yellow flags for a spinner closed it up again and Glenn Bell reeled in Blackman and passed him with less than 10 laps to go, a tussle between Blackman and 303 Matt Simpson held them both up leaving Bell clean and green to take the win and the title. The other podium finishers were 95 Gavin Murray in 2nd, Matt Simpson in 3rd and 209 Kym Weaver in 4th.
