Greetings from Foxhall Stadium where it is time for one of the big events of the year - the Thunder 500. This is one of few chances to witness two of short oval motorsport's premier formulas the National Hot Rods and BriSCA F1 Stock Cars on the same bill.
It is dry but cloudy here now as a minutes applause is held in honour of Steve Skitmore and Steve Newman.

A fast and furious opening race saw Jason Kew take a very good win.
Heat Two
844 Billy Bonnar, 95, 67, 348, 115, 31, 130, 261, 278, 316.
A fine win for visiting Scotsman Bonnar. 115 Haird looked very quick as he made it up to fifth from near the back of the grid.
Heat Three
962 John Christie, 115, 162, 39, 72, 31, 60, 100, 117, 979.
And its another visitor who takes victory in Heat Three as John Christie takes a win from pole position. Christie maintained a good lead throughout the race from 115 Haird.
72 Hardie is on pole with 115 Haird alongside. 962 Christie is on grid position three for the 50 lap main event.
Thunder 500
115 Chris Haird, 72 Wullie Hardie, 174 Jason Kew , 162, 278, 31, 261, 39,10 , 27.
115 Haird overhauls 72 Hardie for the lead after several laps and powers away to a comfortable lead of a few car lengths. The race is stopped around quarter distance as 348 Brereton find himself stranded going into turn one. Haird makes a good start and gains another good lead as 962 Christie drops down the order. 44 Garrett blows up within sight of the chequered flag on turn three and 278 Gomn and 162 Waller-Barrett both hit trouble as a result. The race is declared with Haird staking his claim as one of the favourites for gold in two weeks time!
BriSCA F1 Stock Cars
Heat One
45 Nigel Harrhy, 150, 464, 231, 22, 172, 217, 55, 321, 141.
A very fast Nigel Harrhy takes a flag to flag victory in this race. European Champion 150 Mick Sworder was the quickest of the top men as he placed second while 515 Wainman finished with an outside rear puncture.
Heat Two

150 Mick Sworder takes the chequered flag after long time leader 22 Will Yarrow slides wide in the greasy conditions.
Final

515 Wainman takes victory in the final as the top two on track 45 Harrhy and 22 Yarrow trip over each other. An early coming together with 191 Smith put paid to 150 Sworder's chances in a race ran on a slippery track.
