Spedeworth Motorsports would like to thank everyone for making the 2014 Spedeweekend a huge success.
The weather did it’s best to try and dampen our spirits but the determination of everyone involved and the skill of the drivers showed how fantastic short oval racing can be!
We would like to thank all of the sponsors who supported the 2014 Spedeweekend. We would like to thank CP Dynes for their continued support of the National Hot Rod World Championship as the main sponsor of the weekend. CP Dynes have shown their commitment to Spedeworth Motorsports and the National Hot Rods with 2014 being the third consecutive year and we look forward to working with CP Dynes even more in the future.
We must also thank A & S Farm Services for sponsoring the National Hot Rod World Qualifying Lap Times, and Quaife for supporting the National Hot Rod Best In Britain Championship. Thank you to Print 4 U for sponsoring the 1300cc Stock Cars Supreme ‘Open’ Championship for another year plus Lloyds General Building Maintenance Ltd showing their continued support of the Superstox and the Eaton Family Trophy. The 2.0 Stock Cars were supported by Betfred for the Betfred Trophy and Aford Awards for the Golden Helmet Trophy and we would like to say thank you to both 2.0 Stock Car sponsors as well. Our final two sponsors showed their support to the Bone Builders Ninja Karts and we would like to thank both West London Truck Bodies and Dumpsport Performance Road & Race for presenting the awards to the Stars Of The Future.
Thank you to all you race fans who braved the doomed weather forecast to come and support your favourite drivers and Spedeworth Motorsports over the two day spectacular. From the advanced ticket sales calls to the smiling faces that greeted us at the turnstiles over the weekend, the amount of race fans who travel from far and wide to visit our Foxhall Heath Stadium, Ipswich your commitment to our sport is fantastic to see and we would like to thanks each and every one of you for filling the stadium with happy faces and joining in the fun as the weekend flew by and we can’t wait to see everyone again in the near future.
A Spedeweekend would not be a Spedeweekend without the drivers. No drivers = no racing and that would never do for the first weekend in July at Foxhall Heath Stadium. Over 400 drivers raced at this year’s Spedeweekend and if you had time to walk around the pits it truly is a sight to see with so many different formulas and drivers all looking forward to the prospect of lifting a trophy at the end of the weekend. Just like the race fans we appreciate that some drivers travel long distances to join us and whether you travelled from overseas or five minutes down the road, we cannot thank you enough for putting on a superb show over the 31 races and you all proved that come rain or shine that short oval motor racing is one of the best sports in the world! Fantastic racing from all formulas……Thank You.
There are so many people involved in the planning and organising the 2014 Spedeweekend behind the scenes and within the public eye and it would be impossible to name them all. That been said each we would like to say thank you to each and every one of you. Thank you to all the staff who make the Spedeweekend happen on and off the race track at the stadium and to the staff who look after the Suffolk Showground campsite who commit their whole weekend to helping Spedeworth run the Spedeweekend and never see a race! Thank you to all the race officials, NHRPA officials, presenters, catering staff, security, recovery drivers, trophy girls + Timmy The Tyre, turnstile and car parking staff as well as St John’s Ambulance Service and Business Clean who keep the stadium looking sparkling with litter picking and toilet cleaning for all your hard work in making the weekend run so smoothly and produce such an excellent show on our behalf.
Congratulations must be said to all of our race and championship winners over the weekend and of course to the two World Final winners with National Hot Rod #115 Chris Haird on winning the 2014 CP Dynes National Hot Rod World Championship on Sunday afternoon and Stock Rod #447 Stuart Smyth on winning the Stock Rod World Championship on Saturday night. A full write up on all of our race winners will be online soon and don’t forget to get your copy of next month’s Wheelspin Magazine which will feature all of the thrills and spills of the 2014 Spedeweekend.
Finally we would like to thank Terry Grant for adding some extra flavour to the weekend with his amazing stunts over the two days in his Legend on the Saturday and Mitsubishi on the Sunday. A four wheel car completing an entire lap on two wheels! Fantastic!!
Completing the weekend we must thank Southwold & Raydon Corps Of Drums for adding the traditional touch to the Spedeweekend leading out the CP Dynes National Hot Rod World Championship World Qualifiers and the victory lap after the race.
Once again on behalf of us both, Thank You to you all and we look forward to seeing everyone in the future and at the 2015 Spedeweekend which takes place on the 4th & 5th July next year!
Deane and Janet Wood.
